C: Ayr and Annis

Simple pencil shading commission for Sabrium on Gaia. I had to redesign outfits for the OCs with some elements from the original designs. More information about the OCs can be seen Here

On the left side is Ayr, a half-elf/elf who might not be too particular about socializing with people, but warms up immediately when he has to act the role of a raconteur. Humans aside, he is very fond of frogs though. Hence I did an image of him recounting tales to frogs.

On the right is Annis, who was once a noble and still held on to her sense of entitlement. Because of this, I chose tulips as the side decoration.
History time: During the Dutch Golden Age, tulip flowers enjoyed a period of popularity. They were the symbols of wealth and status with their high price. Some bulbs were said to cost as much as a house, and some people even went into debt to acquire the rare flowers. However, the market crashed afterwards and tulips lost its former allure. I am not sure what caused the crash of the market - some said that it was the plague, whereas my prof said it had something to do with using virus to breed the flowers. Tulips that show breaks (streaks of colors in the petals) are actually a result of virus infection, but are bred for their beauty. However, once people learn of the virus that is used in the process, they became more or less averse towards the flower.

So, just like Annis, tulips used to hold a high status, but soon fall out of grace, becoming just shadows of their former glories.
